This Teaching Job Adds Up to a Strong Future
My daughter just started her freshman year of college. Major? Undecided. And while that is not unusual, for us, it is a little disappointing. Now don’t get me wrong, I believe that every young adult needs to determine what he/she would like to do with their future. It is their life. Why I am disappointed is that throughout high school, she had always wanted to be a middle school math teacher. So what changed for her? For her entire senior year of high school, several of her teachers, including her math teacher, discouraged her from becoming a teacher. What I find ironic is that her math teachers make a very decent salary as public records will reveal. I am hoping my daughter will be encouraged about the prospects for strong employment should she return to her initial career aspirations.

Education Critical to Future Employment
Recently, the Center on Education and the Workforce released a new report that expresses concerns about the types of jobs employers need to fill and the growing lack of Americans that will have the education and training to fill those jobs. The fact remains that a higher education is a virtual must for American workers long into the future. Below we look at some of the projections through 2018 and the consequences to our economy should our citizens not obtain a higher education.
